Southborough, MA, January 28, 2019 — eBroselow, a pioneer in the safe, simple, and standardized delivery of medication in acute care settings, announced the release of SafeDose Family at the recently held CDC PROTECT 2019 Annual Meeting in Atlanta.

The Prevention of Overdoses and Treatment Errors in Children Taskforce (PROTECT) Initiative is an innovative collaboration bringing together public health agencies, private sector companies, professional organizations, consumer/patient advocates, and academic experts to develop strategies to keep children safe from unintentional medication overdoses.  A significant topic of discussion at the meeting centered on the lack of confidence parents have when dispensing over-the-counter medications to children.

eBroselow was there to present the solution to that problem, announcing the launch of SafeDose® Family, a mobile software application that enables safe medication for pediatric patients in the home. The application was developed through a grant from the FDA, facilitated by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) who provide clinical content for all of the SafeDose applications.

SafeDose Family puts the same medication application used by nurses in the hospital into the hands of parents and other caregivers who must administer medicine to their children at home. The app currently applies to liquid over-the-counter oral medication but will soon be expanding to cover other over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications.

“Our application was received with much enthusiasm by everyone at the meeting,” said John Gobron, eBroselow CEO. “There’s been a great deal of hard work and focus by the CDC PROTECT program on safeguarding children and families from dosing errors. SafeDose Family is one of the first tools to ensure consistent, immediate, and accurate administration of medication to children at home.”
