Southborough, MA, November 13, 2025 – SafeDose, a pioneer in the safe, simple, and standardized delivery of pediatric medication, has announced the launch of its Pediatric Readiness Academy to provide nurses with accessible, evidence-based tools and education.
“Offering continuing nursing education (CNE) allows us to extend our mission beyond our point-of-care software platform,” said John Gobron, CEO of SafeDose, Inc. “The Academy will equip nurses with the most current knowledge, skills, and clinical decision-making strategies.”
Pediatric emergencies are high-stakes and high stress, and many nurses receive limited training in weight-based dosing, code response, and pediatric emergency care. The growing need for pediatric readiness and education is critical:
- More than 80% of children receive initial care in emergency departments (ED) of community and rural hospitals
- Median pediatric readiness score is 69.5 out of 100, according to the National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP)
- High readiness results in 76% lower mortality in critically ill children, 60% lower mortality in injured children, and saves 2,143 lives annually according to a study published in the JAMA Network.
The goal of the SafeDose Pediatric Readiness Academy is to provide essential nursing education that will reduce preventable errors, build confidence, and improve patient outcomes across healthcare settings. The first series of courses focuses on pediatric medication safety, pediatric sepsis recognition and management, pediatric dehydration, and pediatric triage and prioritization-core areas that directly impact patient outcomes during high-acuity events.
The Academy will offer engaging continuing education resources including live webinars, recorded on-demand modules, and interactive in-person workshops. The courses are developed by experienced nurse educators and pediatric emergency experts, aligned with national standards.
Each course integrates real-world pediatric scenarios, disease process and pathophysiology review, clinical decision making tools, and SafeDose software demonstrations to ensure practical application. Participants complete post-course evaluations and knowledge checks or skill assessments, where applicable, to receive CEU certificates.
For this launch, SafeDose is offering access to five Pediatric Readiness Academy classes for free through the end of the year. Additionally, access to the full library of SafeDose Pediatric Readiness Academy courses is available to SafeDose enterprise customers.
“Our aim is to create a streamlined, valuable learning experience that empowers nurses to deliver safer, faster, and more confident care to pediatric patients,” said Gobron. “The Academy highlights that SafeDose is more than a valuable tool, makes us the complete pediatric readiness resource, and furthers the movement toward safer pediatric care.”
