New Position: IT Director
Position Summary
The IT Director reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for architectural direction and hands-on leadership of the company’s core product and data platform and associated mobile applications and third-party integrations, working closely with a small offshore development team. The IT Director also manages day-to-day IT operations and, working with the CTO, serves as a technical advisor to company leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own technical architecture and software development for the company’s core product and mobile applications
- Translate business goals and customer needs into clear technical requirements and prioritized development plans
- Direct a small offshore development team, including scoping work, reviewing deliverables, and holding vendors accountable to quality, timeline, and budget commitments
- Establish and enforce software development standards: code quality, testing practices, security, documentation, and release management
- Partner with company leadership, sales, and customer-facing teams to define product priorities to match the strategic direction of the company, including clear explanation of challenges and tradeoffs
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, security, scalability, and user experience
- Oversee core company technology platforms, AWS environment, Claude and other AI usage, tools, integrations, databases and software development infrastructure
- Ensure appropriate security, backup, and disaster recovery practices are in place
- Lead incident response as needed
- Maintain documentation of systems, architecture, and processes
Required Qualifications
- Multiple examples of delivering modern software development projects, including demonstrated ability to plan and lead a team to successful delivery
- Strong understanding of AWS, AI-driven software development techniques, SQL databases, Graph databases, integration methods, DevOps, product support and mobile app development
- Experience with Agile/Scrum or similar methodologies
- Solid understanding of IT security best practices and data privacy
- Demonstrates important competencies: strong written and verbal communication skills, proactivity, creativity, personal and team organization, outcome-driven ownership, adaptability and willingness to dive into the details
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
Work Environment
- Can work from any location, as long as you are willing to work primarily North American business hours, with some flexibility for different time zones
- Must demonstrate the ability to be present and available during normal business hours, and communicate clearly when you will be unavailable
- We anticipate that the IT Director will allocate 5% or more of their time to prototyping, innovation and exploring modern technologies including AI
